Mexican Folkloric Dance Summer Workshop

As part of our Community Artes programming Milagro is sponsoring a Mexican Folkloric Dance workshop with Ballet Papalotl.

Students will participate in a bilingual two-day workshop (English/Spanish) where they will learn a few authentic traditional dance and the culture behind it. A performance will follow at the end of the workshops.

Immersion to the authentic culture and dances of Mexico, hands-on, with team building, working on positive self-esteem, self-confidence, and make new friends.

The students will have the opportunity to showcase what we learned. You can come and invite family and friends.

Workshop Day 1: August 10, 2019

12:00-1:00 PM Lunch (Not Provided) 

1:00 PM-3:00 PM Performance Preparation 

3:00 PM – Performance 

*Ages 6-16 years old*

Cost: $135, includes workshops, costumes, hairpieces, & dance shoe rentals, and up to 5 tickets for family and friends for the final performance.

Dance Instructor: Dr. Kenya R. Marquez, Founder and Artistic Director of the premier Ballet Papalotl (In Oregon since 2003) has a Ph.D. In Child Psychology and is a licensed school counselor. Dr. Marquez has been recognized as Culture Keeper in by the Oregon Life network/University of Oregon. She has received a lifetime achievement award by the World of Art Foundation (2018). She has received multiple recognitions from the city at Grand Floral Rose and Junior Parades, among others, for representing the authentic Mexican Culture.
