Marian Mendez, Isadora

Marian’s love for acting led her to leave architecture school in her home country (El Salvador) and move to the United States. She started acting in short films in Los Angeles before moving to Portland in 2015, where she has developed her passion for the stage in several productions including Contigo Pan y CebollaLydia, Astucias por Heredar, La Segua (Milagro), and Luna Gale (CoHo)She dedicates her work to her beloved husband Jason whose love and support inspire her creative journey.

 

Maya Malán-González, Yolot

Maya Malan-Gonzalez is an LA based artist. She’s a lifelong member of Milagro, an ensemble member with Teatro Luna and a company member with Cara Mia Theatre co. Theatrical credits include LydiaOya: Call The Storm, andFRIDA: un retablo (Milagro); Deferred Action and De Troya (Cara Mia); Generation Sex and Luna UnLaced (Teatro Luna); Zoot Suit (San Diego Rep); La Pastorela and The Story of Seven Macaw (El Teatro Campesino); Romeo and Juliet (Northwest Children’s Theatre). Maya received her B.F.A in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University.

 

Patricia Alvitez, Rocio

Patricia studied Ballet at La Escuela Nacional de Ballet en el Peru and theatre at la Asociacion de Artistas Aficionados. She is a former Company member of The Peninsula Ballet Theatre in San Francisco. Patricia started dancing Ballroom in 2008 and has competed in Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles. Currently she is a dance student at Espacio Flamenco. Local credits include Grand Hotel and Young Frankenstein at Lakewood Theatre, 5 Day of the Dead productions, Watsonville, and La Segua here at Milagro. She thanks Rebecca for this opportunity.

 

Matthew Sepeda, Séptimo

Matthew Sepeda, ActorMatthew is very honored to be a part of this show and to work with such wonderful, talented people. He graduated from University of Portland and has been working in Portland professionally for four years now. Previous at Milagro he’s had the pleasure of being in ¡Alebrijes! by Georgina Escobar, Watsonville by Cherie Moraga, and Lydia by Octavio Solis. He’d like to thank everyone for all their hard work on this production as well as his family and friends for all their support. He truly wouldn’t be here without them.

Rebecca Martinez is a director, choreographer, writer and long-time Milagro collaborator, Recent projects: [Writer] Óye Oyá (Music by Rodolfo Ortega) and La Muerte Baila. Emily Wilken, Scenic Designer

Emily Wilken, Scenic DesignEmily was the PAMTA “2017-2018 Outstanding Set Design ” award recipient for her design of Trails with BRTC and 2018 Drammy recipient for her Properties Design of Men on Boats with Third Rail Repertory Theatre. Additionally she’s worked with Action/Adventure Theatre, Artists Rep, Beirut Wedding World Theatre Project, CoHo Productions, Corrib Theatre, Enlightened Theatrics, Lincoln HS, PAE, Portland Playhouse, and Theatre Vertigo. Emily is also Oregon Children’s Theatre Scenic Charge Artist and Craftsperson.

 

Robert Reimanis, Lighting Designer

Robert graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He has designed lighting for Lewis & Clark College (Overtones, The Exception and the Rule, Men are Unappealing), Broadway Rose Theatre (The Jungle Book), Tigard High School (The Drowsy Chaperone), and Defunkt Theatre (Slipping). He is also designing for Centralia College’s upcoming production of West Side Story. When he isn’t designing, he works as a stage electrician at Greenlight Creative and several theatres in the Portland area.

 

Sumi Wu, Costume Designer

Sumi designed costumes for Imago Theatre’s Title and Deed MedeaSavage/Love, HughiePullman and Pimento, The Homecoming, and Stage Left Lost. She is this season’s Props Master for Oregon Ballet Theatre and also designed props for PSU Opera’s Les Mamelles de Tiresias. She has performed with Imago in Hotel Gone, Baudelaire, Black LizardStage Left Lost and Cuban Missile Tango and appeared in Portland Opera’s The Little Match Girl Passion directed by Jerry Mouawad. She has designed and built sets for Skinner|Kirk Dance Ensemble and has received numerous public and private sculpture commissions.

Lawrence Siulagi, Sound Designer

Lawrence is a performer, director, sound designer, projection designer and music composer from San Diego where he pursued a Bachelors in the Dramatic Arts with a directing emphasis at San Diego State University. He has composed original music for three Milagro national touring shows—El Tesoro, ¡Super Ana! and ¡Corre Corre!—as well as sound designs for such shows as Judge Torres (dir. Mandy Khoshnevisan), El Muerto Vagabundo (dir. Georgina Escobar), Astucias (dir. Robi Arce), Bi– (dir. G. Escobar), and Searching for Aztlan (dir. Lakin Valdez).

 

Kyra Sanford, Properties Master

Kyra is excited to be a part of this production! She is a freelance scenic designer, props master, carpenter, and painter in the Portland area. She has worked for theatres such as Corrib, Vertigo, Profile, Lincoln High School (scenic designer and technical director), Clark College (master carpenter and scenic charge), Shaking the Tree (master carpenter, most recently technical director for “____ the Wolf”), and various others. She received her BFA in scenic design from The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. www.sanfordscenic.com

 

Kristen Mun, Fight Choreographer

Kristen is originally from the island of Oahu and has been in the world of stage combat for almost 15 years, she is recognized as an advanced level combatant with Dueling Arts International and was assistant fight choreographer at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (09-10). She has received a Drammy Award for Best Fight Choreography for her work on Tender Napalm (2018), Henry IV, Part I (2013), Oedipus El Rey (2012) and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (2012). You can also see more of her work at Portland Center Stage during Crossing Mnisose. When Kristen is not working as a fight choreographer she is a proud AEA stage manager.

 

Yasmin Ruvalcaba, Assistant Director

Yasmin Ruvalcaba, DirectorYasmin recently participated in Island in Winter (Bag & Baggage) and Hurl (Corrib Theatre) as the assistant director. She has also directed several readings for Milagro’s Ingenio Series. The first reading she directed for Milagro was Valentino and the Chilean Heirress by Guillermo Reyes, and this fall she directed Casta by Adrienne Dawes. Previous credits include, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Los Vendidos, and El Nogalar (Cap & Bells).

 

Shira Goldeen, Stage Manager

Shira, a native of Charlottesville, VA, studied Theatre Arts at Virginia Tech where she worked on all things technical and production. Favorite production credits include It’s a Wonderful Life (ART); Austicias (Milagro); Guys and Dolls (LiveArts); Putnam County Spelling Bee, Boeing Boeing (Virginia Tech); and Mary Poppins (PacRep). Shira has a love for all dogs, brussels sprouts, and salsa dancing. She is excited to be back at Milagro, her first theatre home in Portland.

 

Alex Hussey, Board Operator

Born and raised in Salem, Alex started his technical theatre work while a student at West Salem High School and moving on to Mount Hood Community College. Before becoming the full time TD at West Salem HS, Alex traveled internationally for three years running sound for military briefings for the Department of Defense. Most recently Alex has been mixing for Enlightened Theatrics, most notable credits include: Wizard of Oz, Sweeney Todd, and Avenue Q. This is Alex’s first production with Milagro, and he is excited to be here!
