From Spain with Love… and passion!

Once again the Día de Muertos celebration has come and gone, but there is so much more happening at Milagro Theatre, starting with a world-class troupe coming to the Rose City from the cradle of flamenco!

AMFlamenco Dance Company brings its latest production, Poesía Flamenca to the Milagro Theatre on Sunday, November 24, the only Portland date, and final performance, in a six-city U.S. tour before returning to Jerez in the Spanish community of Andalucía (Andalusia).

The performance piece is strongly rooted in the traditions of flamenco cante, and threaded through with personal narratives of love, loss, and the unexpected twists of fate in the life of performer, instructor and creator of Poesía Flamenca, Adriana Maresma.

“This is personal reflection on life’s journey, and the legacy we leave behind,” says Adriana. “After experiencing my own personal loss of a loved one, and the birth of a special soul in my life, I began to see that our lives are like poetry: created through our experiences, poetry uses words to describe who we are, and tells the story of our influence on those we encounter on our journey.”

The show also features her collaborators: dancer Jose Moro from Madrid, as well as guitarist Juan Gomez and singer Rocio Soto, both from Andalusia, like flamenco itself. Together, the quartet will present an intimate experience of the rhythmic heartbeats and soulful melodies that define true flamenco music.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience the vigor of this international troupe in our intimate theatre. Tickets are available now.
