Miracle Theatre Group is pleased to continue to partner with our friends at NW Film to share with you some of the most interesting cinema! As part of NW Film’s Reel Music 30 festival this fall, take a closer look at this film to be screened at 2:30 p.m., Saturday Oct. 20:
EL MAESTRO RAFAEL FRÜHBECK DE BURGOS
DIRECTOR: DON MCGLYNN
DENMARK/US, 2012
Don McGlynn, whose past films highlight such greats as Howlin Wolf, Charles Mingus, Art Pepper, Dexter Gordon, and Louis Prima, turns his focus to acclaimed Spanish music conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. Following de Burgos, now the chief conductor of the Danish Symphony Orchestra, for more than a year as he prepares for guest conducting appearances all over the world, we learn not only about a remarkable 60-year career, but about the craft of preparation and the art of making musical magic. (90 mins.)
From our friends at NW Film: “The 30th Reel Music Festival showcases films that tell the creative, unexpected, and sometimes transformative origins of sounds so infused in our experience. We hope that our annual celebration of sound and image, music and culture, offers something that will perk your curiosity, warm your soul, and send you scouting for new, and renewed, discovery—whatever your musical tastes.”
