People keep falling in love with Ardiente Paciencia, and leaving us love notes! Here we share some of the lovely comments for our Spanish-language production…

“Another piece of flawlessly executed performance poetry from Milagro! Wow. Thank you!” – Teresa Frakes, by e-mail

“This was my second play at Milagro Theater and they do an outstanding job. I brought 3 people with me and all of us enjoyed this play tremendously. It was lighthearted but profound and touched on the turbulent times in Chile during Pablo Neruda’s era. Thank you Milagro Theater for putting on another memorable production.”- Stacey, on Goldstar

“… at the always wonderful [Milagro Theatre] there is ‘ARDIENTE PACIENCIA’.Enrique Andrade and Sofía May-Cuxim give great performances as always, but it is Javier Mendoza and Siumara Samayoa who really blew me away. I completely fell in love with both of their characters.” — Chris Engelke, on Facebook

“I brought 20 students, and from all fronts heard from- this show is
beloved. It has the touch of beauty, passionate theatre and makes me as glad as
ever that Milagro is thriving in Portland. Thanks to all involved! And if you
haven’t seen it yet, don’t miss out” — Patrick Tangredi, on Facebook

“This show was unbelievable…I was expecting a show about a famous poet to be very serious…I have never laughed so much and got misty eyed at the ending. This is once again one of the best shows Milagro or Miracle Theater has presented! All of the actors were amazing and I had a wonderful experience tonight! If you don’t see this show, it will be your loss. You must see this show!” — John Rodarte, on Facebook

Don’t let the fact that the performance is in Spanish scare you, as  mentioned in his Oregon Artswatch review: “the entire performance is spoken in Spanish, which some people will view as a distraction but I see as a strength. Supertitles are screened above the stage, not too wordy or literal but just enough to let English speakers keep a solid sense of what’s going on: the narrative never gets lost. And it’s good to hear a script that’s tied so intimately to a poet’s words spoken in the poet’s native language. We hear the inflections and rhythms that are the heartbeat of the poetry as it was written, and feel the telltale body movements that go with the spoken language.”
