Portland’s only festival of Latino arts and culture continues with a free event at 7pm this evening!
Milagro’s La Luna Nueva brings us the staged reading of the Obie Award-winning play No Child for the first time on the Milagro stage!
The play is is a tour-de-force exploration of the New York City public school system, in which
Sun fearlessly transforms with rapid-fire precision into the teachers, students, parents administrators, janitors and security guards who inhabit our schools and shape the future of America, making this play one of the most acclaimed theatrical events in recent years.About the director: Eric Lyness is the founding artistic director of Blind Flight Theatre, a small theatre laboratory dedicated to giving early career theatre artists a chance to experiment. Favorite works with Blind Flight include 30 Plays for 30 Days: September in an Evening, and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
Eric is also currently engaged as a directing apprentice with the 2014-’15 Third Rail Mentorship Company. When he’s not working as a director Eric serves as Milagro’s Technical Director.
About the performer: Ithica Tell is a proud company member of Post5 Theatre Company. Her many Portland credits include collaborating with companies such as Portland Revels, Willamette Shakespeare, Artists Repertory Theatre, Northwest Children’s Theatre and School, FUSE, Northwest Classical Theatre Co, Sojourn Theatre, Stark Raving Theatre, MediaRites, COHO Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Tears of Joy Theatre and Dragon Puppet Theatre. She appeared at Milagro in 2009 as Sarah in El Grito del Bronx.
