Milagro Arts Education Programs for schools embraces a cradle to career approach in arts education. As members of the Coalition of Communities of Color, the OYE Sexual Health Coalition and an Oregon Arts Commission model of best practices, Milagro’s educational bilingual plays address a broad range of themes that include socioeconomic disparities, racism, environmental and health related inequity and loss of culture. Through workshops and residencies, Milagro engages students from elementary through college to foster self-determination, wellness and cultural pride.

The Teatro Milagro Touring Company is composed of three teaching artists that perform in all the programs, and lead workshops and residencies. Teatro Milagro has created a unique bilingual culturally specific curriculum called UNIDAD, which shares a holistic approach to student centered learning focused on health and wellbeing, in four units of self, family, community, and environment. UNIDAD is a STEAM model of best practices created with the input of multiple community partners, and is available in bilingual formats of Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Chinese and Somali. These teacher workbooks are given to participating teachers in school residencies.
Workshops and residencies are designed with the existing curriculum of teachers in mind. Scaffolding in multiple day residencies connects core studies of Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Performance Arts.
Workshops or residencies can be stand-alone events inspired by themes or events at a school or community, or can be connected to the themes in a performance.
